At Momu, we pride ourselves on making sure the whole building process is easy and affordable. Once the important step of choosing your home design is complete, it is time to work out the the fixtures and fittings, as well as the appliances that you want in your dream home.
For the plumbers and electricians to be able to start work on your house, they need to know what exactly you are wanting in your home. Here are some helpful tips to get you started:
Fixtures and Fittings
The best place to start is the kitchen, it is not only the hub of the home but the choices you make here will set the theme for the rest of the home. The other wet areas in your house will usually be styled to fit in with the Kitchen, and the sink and tapware are the main features.
Baths, sinks and even toilets need to have a sort of flow or symmetry – a square basin will need to be matched with a square toilet, or a round basin to a round toilet. Having an idea of what baths, basins and toilets you like is a good. There is a lot of inspiration online, in home magazines and also in our display homes. It also helps to consider what you have had in previous homes, or in your current home, and which you prefer. Tapware is the next big decision… Do you want silver or black? Would you prefer knobs or lever taps? Whatever you choose, keep the same style throughout the rest of the home. If you want to make each area different, change the look by picking different finishes or colours.
Electrical Plan
Where are you wanting your lights and power points situated? It is hard to change or add any of these once your home is complete, so take the time to get it right the first time around. Consider every possibility, think about how you live now. Look at your house plan and go through every room one by one, our consultants will be able to guide you. Pendant lights, and power and tv points all need to be decided on; and remember that it’s better to have too many power points then not enough
Appliances
Decide on your appliances early. Do you want a single fridge, or a larger French door style? What style of microwave and dishwasher are you after? You will also need to select an oven. Check out our display homes for the ultimate inspiration for choosing your appliances.
Cabinetry
Knowing what cabinetry you want (and where!) should be high on your list of priorities. For the slab to be laid, we need to know where everything is going so that plumbing can be factored in. Where are your cupboards going to be, and do you want an island bench in the kitchen?
